Rob and I found this dead caterpillar while we were walking back from the beach and after half an hour of internet sleuthing I found out it’s a garden tiger caterpillar. I’m really sad now because it would have been so beautiful if it had pupated!

Garden tigers were apparently once really widespread in the UK but they’ve been in decline over the past few years. If there’s one ginormous caterpillar in Portknockie it must mean there are others, though.
